Some Recent News Headlines:

Boston Globe, September 12, 2006 - The Reality in Iraq There is virtually no chance now of Iraq emerging as a bastion of Western-style democracy, a light unto others in the Arab world. The notion pushed by neo-conservatives never made any sense in the first place, given the history and make up of Iraq's population and the country's lack of the necessary institutions., September 10, 2006 - Bin Laden Trail 'Stone Cold' After playing down bin Laden's importance and barely mentioning him for several years, Bush last week repeatedly invoked his name and quoted from his writings and speeches to underscore what Bush said is the continuing threat of terrorism., September 9, 2006 - Rockefeller: Bush Duped Public on Iraq After 2-1/2 years of reviewing pre-war intelligence behind closed doors, the lead Democrat on the Intelligence Committee, Sen. John Rockefeller (D-W. Va), who voted for the Iraq War, says the Bush administration pulled the wool over everyone's eyes. [Rockefeller] says the world would be better off today if the United States had never invaded Iraq—even if it means Saddam Hussein would still be running Iraq.

Media Monitors, August 31, 2006 - US Army Contemplates Redrawing Middle East Map to Stave Off Looming Global Meltdown The source also revealed that US generals had repeatedly war-gamed a prospective conflict with Iran, but consistently found that the simulations predicted "an absolute nuclear disaster", from which no clear winner would emerge. The scenarios gamed were so dismal, he said, that the generals briefed administration officials to avoid such a war at all costs. However, the source said that the Bush administration is ignoring the fears of the US military.

Excerpt from "The Lord in the Heart", purport, Srimad-Bhagavatam Canto 2, Chapter 2, Text 6

The foolish leaders of a godless civilization try to devise various plans to bring about peace and prosperity in the godless world under a patent trademark of materialism, and because such attempts are illusory only, the people elect incompetent, blind leaders, one after another, who are incapable of offering solutions. If we want at all to end this anomaly of a godless civilization, we must follow the principles of revealed scriptures like the Srimad-Bhagavatam and follow the instruction of a person like Sri Shukadeva Gosvami who has no attraction for material gain.

Shukadeva Gosvami was the illustrious son of Sri Vyasadeva, who compiled the Vedas. From birth, Shukadeva Gosvami renounced all worldliness. After the devastating Mahabharat War, when the Pandavas' heir King Parikshit was cursed to die within 7 days, he approached the great saints and sages and inquired, "Please tell me what is to be done in preparation for leaving this body so that I may attain spiritual perfection." They all had different opinions, but then Shukadeva Gosvami came into their midst, and at once everyone deferred to him in recognition of his exalted spiritual realization as a pure devotee of the Supreme Lord. Shukadeva Gosvami at once advised King Parikshit to devote his remaining time to hearing about the glories of the Supreme Personality of Godhead as narrated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, also known as the Bhagavat Purana. Therefore the King sat down, together with all the saintly personalities gathered there, and listened intently as Shukadeva Gosvami repeated the 18,000 verses of Srimad-Bhagavatam for the benefit of King Parikshit and all those persons in attendance.
